Businesses are required to register with the Ohio Secretary of State to legally conduct business in the state — this is commonly called a business license.
The Ohio eLicense Center provides verification for RNs, LPNs, Prescriptive and Certificate of Authority holders, dialysis technicians, and medication aides. The option to translate this page is provided via third party application. The ODPS/BMV cannot guarantee the accuracy of the translation made available through this service. This division is responsible for licensing Ohio's real estate brokers, salespeople, appraisers and foreign real estate dealers and salespeople. The Division is also responsible for the registration of cemeteries located in Ohio and the registration of real estate developments located in other states but marketed in Ohio.

All certified public accountants and public accountants should hold a valid license unless retired. CPAs and PAs holding an Ohio non-practicing registration must use the disclaimer 'Inactive' after the CPA or PA designation.
In order to get better search results, please limit the number of search boxes and characters you use. You may get more results, but you are more likely to find the record you desire.
Licensee Search (CPA or PA)
To find a licensee, select Individual search and then 'Accountancy Board' under the heading 'Select a Board' and enter the search criteria. Enter a few characters of the last name and select the 'Search' option to find licensees that match your selection criteria. The best search option is, if known, the CPA certificate/license or PA registration number entered in the 'License Number' field. Once you receive the search results, you may select the license number to obtain the original license issue date and the license expiration date.
To find a public accounting firm, select Business search and then 'Accountancy Board' under the heading 'Select a Board' and enter the search criteria. Enter the first few letters of the firm name on the line 'Business Name,' select 'Ohio' as the state, and click the 'Search' option. Firms with a suffix of PR=Peer review; TC=Tax or consulting firm are registered with the Board, with branch offices showing an EMPL prefix. All firms that practice public accounting must register with the Board, in accordance with section 4701.04 of the Ohio Revised Code. Once you receive the search results, you may select the license number to obtain the public accounting firm's license expiration date.
To find a continuing education sponsor, select Business search and then 'Accountancy Board' under the heading 'Select a Board.' Select 'CPE Sponsor' under the heading 'License Type.' Enter the first few letters of the firm name on the line 'Business Name,' and select the 'Search' option.
The Board no longer requires registration of CPE sponsors that offer home-study, computer-based, or Internet-based programs. Sponsors offering these programs should register with the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, part of LearningMarket.org, a division of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). If a CPE sponsor is listed using the search function, the sponsor approval applies only to classroom and seminar programs.
Public accounting firms holding a current firm registration are considered Ohio continuing education sponsors per rule 4701-15-05(C)(4).
