Hello, ever since I upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 my network adapter is constantly disconnecting, it is a huge pain and I'm even considering rolling back to Windows 7 (I really don't want to though).

It happens seemingly randomly but especially when it is under a heavy load (downloading, gaming etc). It can happen 15-20 times a day, so you can see how troublesome this is. The only way to fix it is to manually reconnect the network adapter. It will show the Computer icon with the cross through it when it happens (as if there's not connection whatsoever, it doesn't acknowledge there is a network adapter plugged in.)

I've tried running troubleshooter, I've tried re-downloading the drivers. Ive tried switching USB ports.

I have two suspicions of what could be causing it:

Whenever I got to my network adapter properties (through device manager) the 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power' won't stay unticked, I don't know when it resets the tick because it does stay unchecked for a while. And I'm not certain if that's what keeps disconnecting it but it could be but to test it I need a way to keep it off.

I also think it could be a problem with some service turning itself off. I've been having a lot of problems with services doing that, but I wouldn't know which service this is (and I think re-inserting the adapter would turn the service back on) and when my cpu gets high it switches off for conservation. But I don't know this for sure.

Any help would be appreciated, I use a WNA3100 netgear wireless adapter and I cannot connect my computer via enthernet (ports don't work).
EDIT: I posted this years ago but I get replies it from it still occasionally, I'm sorry to say I don't have any solutions for it but I believe it is a driver compatibility problem with Windows 10. Seeing as how it only stopped working on a Windows 10 upgrade, that's the only thing that makes sense. I bought a new network adapter after that one broke completely and it worked fine ever since so take from that what you will.
