I just got dischraged from the Army of Korea and I suffered a momentary depression, struggling to adapt myself to the new world.
Everything I wish to happen didn't come as planned, so I got really upset about everything.
Yes, I almost lost it.
I didn't know why, but now I do know it was my belief and mind that led me to negatives.
The most impressive quote of all in the book is this
It takes nothing to feel good about yourself. You can feel good about yourself with very teeny-tiny daily things.

this book should be required reading for every single person in the world. amazing. how am I just learning about Anthony Robbins. I have always been the most motivated, determined person I know in every area of my life, but lately I had begun to lose that. Robbbins' book helped to take me out of this dark part of my life and has motivated me again to become something great during my one shot at life.
This is a very long book, and should not be rushed through reading. You really need to read a lit

It is true you only get out of life what you put in.
I refer to your thoughts and your mindset.
We are a product of how we use our mind. Anthony Robbins is teaching that in this book.
If you want a get rich book I would not consider buying or reading this book. This book will make you rich but rich in mind, body, spirit and material wealth will follow if that is your desire.
Anthony does not proclaim to may you materially rich by using his techniques. What he is doing is showing you the power of you

I read just about everything Anthony released but Awaken the Giant is my favorite. I first read this book in the early 90's and since then Tony Robbins has released more books and more audio systems but the principles are still the same. This book was my introduction to Neuro Linguistic Programming which proves effective if you practice it (I emphasize if). Tony speaks a lot about his own experiences also and some of the struggles he faced growing up which allows the reader to make comparisons t...more

-It states “the desire for gain must exceed the fear of failure” in order to accomplish something.
-Once we effect a change, we should reinforce it immediately. Then, we have to condition our nervous system to succeed not just once, but consistently

The pop psychology advice in this book about goal setting, decision making, bias to action, seeking help from others etc. will be useful to some and is not harmful.
What is harmful is the naive belief that if you want success enough, you can achieve it. For most people life is a quiet and desperate struggle for survival interspersed with some happy moments.
To be successful, you have to be lucky in addition to working hard, being smart, creative etc. and only a small percentage of us will ever ge

Probably one of the most popular self-help books ever written. I found it inspiring and insightful, although not all that original. Most of it was just common sense and standard psychology, particularly behaviorism and cognitive-behavioral therapy. The gist is that we can change our lives by changing our beliefs and thoughts, and associating pain with bad habits and pleasure with more beneficial habits.
While it's always good when someone makes psychology more accessible to the layman, there's so

Awaken The Giant Within Pdf Summary

Recommends it for: Anyone looking for a greater level in their life. Or anyone who is hungry for more.
One of the best and most comprehensive personal development books out there. The central message is this: you have the power right now to control how you think, how you feel, and what you do. Everything you could ever want, tangible or not, is all within you. Tony Robbins has a wealth of experience which he essentially puts in its rawest form into this book. I found it a fantastic read and IF IMPLEMENTED, then a sincere aid to your life and whatever you want out of it. HIs techniques I've listed...more
Anthony Robbins is one who needs no introduction as far as Personal Development goes. Reading Awaken the Giant within is akin to attending a spiritual retreat/workshop. This book is a whooping 500 and some pages. I purchased it about 2years ago but never quite got around to it. All along I kept saying to my friends that I know this book will change my life and indeed it has. I will never be the same again. This book is not to be read passively. Clear your schedule, grab a book mark, pencil, jott...more

'What makes a person with a 'good background' behave so savagely and without remorse while another gives his own life to rescue complete strangers? What creates a hero, a heel, a criminal, a contributor? What determines the difference in human actions? Throughout my life, I have passionately sought the answer to these questions. One thing is clear to me: human beings are not random creatures; everything we do, we do for a reason. We may not be aware of the reason consciously, but there is undoub...more
Offers a few gems in the midst of a lot of relatively redundant jargon the author made whilst developing his personal philosophy. In addition to the redundant jargon, the concepts themselves felt somewhat repetitive, so this book may be better used as a long term repository of uplifting/motivational stories and aphorisms.
Some anecdotes were jarringly clean in the public-relations-censorship type of way, to the extent that may turn off more cynical readers less tolerant of sifting through fluf

A motivational and practical guide to the power of decisions in reaching our goals. I liked the themes of taking responsibility and continuously improving. It discusses success not only in financial terms, but also mental, emotional, and physical (bodily). It's somewhat overly optimistic at times, but far less cheesy than I expected.
The 'giant within' in the title is decision. Our decisions about 'how we think, how we feel, and what we do'...'will determine the quality of our present and future

He opens up with a story about flying his jet helicopter. This book focuses mostly on 'things'. It is nothing new, certainly nothing special, and it is INTOLERABLY materialistic. If that's your thing, then knock yourself out. Please be skydiving when you do.

I began reading this book after watching the Netflix doc on Anthony Robbins. The skeptical director spoke in length about his doubt and eventual conversion - which is what led me to read one of Robbins' books. I found a lot of the 'inspirational' stories generic, overused, and out-dated. Granted, the book was originally written in the early 90s. But the most disappointing part was how these 'inspirational' stories lacked depth. Considering that Robbins shares stories from a number of powerful an...more

I really don't feel good about self-help books and coaches.
I have my own religious opinions that the ultimate resolution you can make in your life is in your religion and specially ISLAM.
So anyway of trying to improve your life quality away from Islam, .......... well i kind of don't like it.
However you can look at this book in a way of holding useful tools and methods and making some distinctions in how you interpret your own emotions and other's behavior.

Often referred to by me as 'The Book', I can't believe I've never written a review of it before. This book has changed and improved my life in a way that no other ever has. I casually refer to Anthony Robbins as 'Uncle Tony' because his words feel like sage advice from a favorite uncle. It is constantly within easy reach, either on my desk where I spend most of my time, or on my nightstand by the bed. This book was written when Antony Robbins was in his early 30s and the things he had accomplished at such a young age was jaw dropping. His philosophy mainly revolves around inducing positive energy through an accelerated learning curve and turning things very fast irrespective of any circumstances through his trademarked Neuro Associative Conditioning. Also, he emphasizes in-depth on some of the every day and unconscious things we use from Vocabulary to Metaphors have a serious impact on what w...more

Recommends it for: those wanting to know why we do the things we do and how to change it.
There is so much amazing information in this book on how to literally take charge of your life and get you to figure out why you you do the things you do.
I would recommend to first read 'Unlimited Power,' so you don't get overwhelmed with the immense amount of information in it.
Bottom line, if you want to know why you do the things you do AND how to use it to get the things you want, you need to buy this book and apply it.

Right mood, right book, right length of audio version.
His ideas are simple and straightforward. He gets right to the point. No long case studies or redundant padding to increase word count. The audio is only an hour and a half on regular speed.
UPDATE: I just looked at the specs on the physical book and it is 548 pages! So I looked at the audio version more closely and realized it was an abridged version. No wonder it was short and to the point. I'm not sure I'd bother to read the big long thing

Good Morning Goodreads Friends,
I met man when I was 30 who was operating above the norm. I saw him in the hospital that I was working at Santa Monica Hospital in CA. I was a Physical Therapist Technician and he was a Physical Therapist. I witnessed the way he talked to the staff, patients and his over all character. One day, I pulled him to the side along the hospital wall and said to him. 'There is something different about you, you're amazing, and I cannot figure out what's going on...?' He s

Recommended to read this book by a friend. I read about 100 pages into it and decided that Anthony Robbins is really just full of himself, and is very long winded in telling you why. Has some good quotes, and his logic and methods make sense, but I grew tired of hearing about how successful he was an why between each point he expressed.

Invaluable tool helping one harness one's inner self better! The author himself, a remarkable man. Kudos to you, Mr Robbins!

Chapter 1: He was the janitor and ten years later he was in a chopper above. Said in many ways over and over again.
Chapter 2: A mind numbing list of pointless questions. And how he was ten years before.
Sorry, but the Giant should be more obvious, even from a distance. I also fail to see what is the connection between Poland's opposition to the Soviet Union influence and the flying janitor asking rhetorical questions.
Anthony Robbins first book, 'Awaken the Giant Within', seemed to me a completely holistic, detailed, and comprehensive guidebook on how to transform your life from one of dragging along, failing, or simply refusing to thrive, into one of empowerment, focus, direction, clear-headed-ness, and vitality. Not mere 'positive thinking' by a long shot, Tony describes tools and techniques relevant to our thinking, our outlook, our physical and spiritual health, and our human relationships, intimate or ot...more

You must know that in any moment a decision you make can change the course of your life forever: the very next person you stand behind in line or sit next to on an airplane, the very next phone call you make or receive, the very next movie you see or book you read or page you turn could be the one single thing that causes the floodgates to open, and all of the things that you’ve been waiting for to fall into place.
